As a result, CrashPlan dutifully backed it up to the cloud. ![]() ![]() For some reason, I’d stored that virtual disk at the top level of my home folder rather than its usual location, which would have excluded it from online backups. Seeing numbers around 40GB reminded me that I’d recently created a virtual machine in VMware Fusion to test Yosemite betas, with a disk size of 40GB. It showed a four-day period during which our usage had gone through the roof: 30, 46, 58, and 30 gigabytes, respectively. My first clue came from my ISP’s daily usage summary. ![]() ![]() I had to figure out what had been using up all that data and then take steps to fix the problem. ![]()
